Enhancements for Connector 2010
CONNECTOR
Interface
  • While working in a Connector enabled Microsoft Office document, there are occasions where links are built incorrectly or otherwise fail to connect with the desired information in Working Papers. The error interface is included in the context (right-click) menu to allow for easier navigation and diagnosis.

When a linkage fails to connect to Working Papers, it will typically display #N/A or something similar. To determine the cause of the linkage failure, simply right-click on the error cell and select Connector Errors from the context menu. A short description of the problem will be displayed and may be selected to view more information.

As well, in the area of error messages, steps have been taken to eliminate an unnecessary “OpenMutex failed” error.
Collaboration
  • Connector had previously included an option to unlink a document, meaning the active linkages between Connector and the source Working Papers client file would be removed, while the most recently updated values would be retained in the document. This would allow a document to be viewed on a workstation without Connector installed, such as for the purpose of approval by a partner.

New in version 2010, Connector now offers an option to relink a document which was unlinked in Connector 2010, meaning the original Connector formulas that linked to Working Papers will be restored on demand, returning the document to the status of an ordinary Connector document.

To make use of the relink function, the unlink process must have been performed using Connector version 2010.00.
Microsoft Office
  • By default, when an application is installed which integrates with Microsoft® Office 2007 and higher, it will appear on the Add-Ins ribbon. Connector 2010 now offers an option which will allow the toolbar to appear on the home ribbon.

Please note, this feature is only applicable to Microsoft Office 2007 and higher.

Requirements

The latest version of CaseWare Working Papers is required for Connector to function correctly.

Note: Connector is fully compatible with Working Papers version 2008.00 or higher. Existing DDE-based links will still function if connecting to a release of Working Papers 2006.50, however all other functionality is incompatible.

Operating systems:
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (Note: See here for important information when sharing files hosted on Windows 7)
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or higher (Note: see here for important information when sharing files hosted on Windows Vista)
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 or higher

Hardware

  • 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • Minimum 512 MB of system memory. 1,024MB or more recommended for improved performance.
  • The Connector program requires 10 MB hard drive space.
  • The size of open client files will vary depending on the features used and the size of documents managed. Working Papers has built-in compression that significantly reduces the size of compressed files.
  • SVGA monitor capable of 256 colors and 800x600 resolution is required. A monitor with 1280x1024 resolution or higher is recommended.
  • Dual monitors are supported.
  • CD-ROM drive. The Working Papers product is distributed on CD-ROM.
  • Updates between CD releases are available as downloads from the CaseWare International Inc. website. A high-speed internet connection is recommended for downloading program updates.
