Release notes for
CaseWare® Financials IFRS – March 2010
Please review the following information prior to
opening CaseWare® Financials IFRS. It is recommended that you
print a copy of this document and keep it for reference.
a) If any errors are displayed during installation please call CaseWare® Technical Support in your country.
b) During installation, the master Financials IFRS files are updated automatically. Launch the Financials IFRS master file from CaseWare® Working Papers. Open the document VR – Version information on the document manager. Verify that the version number on the master file is shown as 8.00.162.
c) Please refer to the Financials IFRS Update documents for changes to the requirements and detailed instructions on updating the master firm file and each client file.
Following are
the enhancements and modifications made between version 7.75.130 and version
8.00.162:
Resize Table
·
Created new option
to quickly resize a table to one of three format sizes – default, medium or
small format. The tables resize by 10% and one font point size for each
option.
Statement Area Headings
·
Revised statement
area headings so they do not appear as skipped text.
Show Cell Numbers in Tooltips
·
Added option to
display the cell number of the cell in a tooltip to assist in creating
customized calculations using existing cells.
Show/Hide Skipped Rows/Columns
·
Added option to
show/hide any rows or columns that are skipped where the row or column is set
to skip either manually or as a result of no data.
Show/Hide Map Numbers/Line Source
Columns
·
Added option to
show or hide the map number/line source column.
Make Quick Changes to multiple rows at
once including:
·
Enhanced
functionality to allow multiple rows to be highlighted and adjusted at once to:
o
Delete multiple
rows through the right-click menu or button.
o
Skip multiple rows
through the right-click menu.
o
Create subtotals for
selected rows with new “Quick Subtotal” button.
o
Change Grouping
for multiple rows through the right-click menu.
o
Adjust “Vertical
Alignment” for multiple rows and columns through the right-click menu.
o
Highlight multiple
paragraphs and indent them all at once.
Sorting
·
Expanded the
reorder dialog to include the ability to sort the Table of Contents area.
Diagnostics
·
Expanded
diagnostics to include warnings when:
o
Any column of
statement of financial position data is not balanced.
o
Linked
notes/statements and schedules do not agree exactly to the mapped account
amount.
Milestones
·
Option added to
prompt user to create a milestone on file closing.
Navigation
·
Enhanced
navigation when navigating from the financial statements to the financial
statement options document to open at the same area as the cursor is in the
financial statements.
·
Changed the
bookmark tags to recognize any changes to the statement area names.
Linking alternative column values
·
Enhanced notes and
schedule tables to enable users to define cells in a note or schedule table
that can be linked to any existing IFRS Financials table. Once defined
the notes can be linked using the existing functionality “Link from…
schedule/note/statement” functionality.
Notes to the Financial Statements
·
Added
functionality to allow notes to be inserted to the financials statements in the
same order as they appear in the Knowledge Library Index.
Reporting Balance Type Column
·
Modified the
additional column in the Financial Statements area formats to be populated
based on any Working Papers Balance Type. Previously the only column balance
available was the Budget amount. You are able to modify the additional
column attributes for;
o
Title column
o
Balance type
o
Period
3 Year Reporting
·
Expanded to
include three years reporting to the Financial Statements. This feature
is enabled in
o
Statements, notes
and schedule formats.
o
The control documents
Firm Financial Options and Financials Statement Options.
o
Cash Flows
Worksheet.
o
Segment Reporting
Worksheet.
Quarterly Reporting
·
Added quarterly
reporting to the Financial Statements. This feature is enabled in:
o
Statements and
schedules.
o
The control
documents Firm Financial Options and Financials Statement Options.
o
In a new Cash
Flows Worksheet document - “Statement of Cash Flows Worksheet (quarterly)”.
Calculation Explorer
·
Changed drill-down
to launch Working Papers Calculation Explorer. The calculation explorer allows
you to drill down to the supporting balances and launch the applicable
automatic documents in Working Papers.
Interface Changes
·
Updated the
interface to include updated buttons, fonts and colors of key documents
including the Financial Statements, Financials Statement Options, Knowledge
Libraries and Firm Financial Options documents.
o
Added to each
document a distinctive icon to reflect the type of document. Easily
identify when you are in the master template, the library files, worksheets,
option documents and the financial statements.
Small and Medium Size
·
Enabled SME
reporting option to allow firms to tag notes as applicable for SME
engagements. When activated in a future Financials release only notes
tagged as SME will appear as available at the engagement level.
New IFRS Notes
·
Added new IFRS
notes to the Notes Knowledge Library. These notes provide additional sample
wording to use and modify for an engagement.
Renaming IFRS Financials Note Titles
·
Enhanced CaseWare
note heading titles in the notes knowledge library to allow the firm to modify
the titles. The modified note heading titles appear in the financial
statements.
DIY Tables
·
Added DIY tables
to schedules and statement areas.
·
Added DIY
functionality use a Custom Balance for the Balance Type Field for any column.
Purge Styles
·
Designed an option
under the “Options” menu to “Purge unused styles”. This removes the styles
not used in the engagement Financial Statements which increases performance.
·
Ensure template
takes advantage of all new CaseWare and CaseView features. Of particular
interest to template users new CaseView features include:
o
Document Map - a
navigational tool which allows tagged paragraphs to be sequentially listed with
an alternate intuitive title rather than the existing
paragraph tag.
o
Printing and Print
Preview - added an option to the print dialog to scale pages such that wide tables will fit on one page.
This is useful for unreleased print jobs where it is not necessary to waste
time and paper printing the full size table.
Online Help
·
Updated and
reorganized the online help in many areas.
Training Material and Guides
·
Updated training
material and guides to cover new enhancements.
